Professional facilities for professional learning

The Catholic Education Office of WA has an exciting new venue for professional learning activities and AISWA languages teachers and teacher assistants were delighted to be invited to a recent workshop with their CEOWA colleagues.
The Newman Siena Centre in Doubleview is an old school completely and beautifully renovated and outfitted for professional learning. The recent workshop, organised by Cherie Hess, Consultant for Languages from the CEOWA brought together language teachers and assistants from AISWA and CEOWA schools to plan, film, edit and share video resources. Learn more about creating your own video resources.
The Contemporary Learning Hub within the Newman Siena Centre was the perfect location for the collaborative projects to take place. The multi-purpose conference rooms provided participants with the space to work in groups and the technology to record and edit video. There are screens everywhere connected to laptop and tablet computers, free wifi connections and for those who don't have their own computers, extra desktops and laptops for editing video recordings and inserting graphics. There are even two studios fitted with green screens which enable conversations to appear to be located in exotic settings.
CEOWA will be providing more opportunities for Resource Development Workshops in the Contemporary Learning Hub in 2013. Teachers from all systems/sectors will be welcome to attend. Check out the CEOWA professional learning portal for details or contact Cherie Hess 6380 5311.
