MLTAWA 2013 Hilde Dixon Award

Congratulations to Kate Reitzenstein who has been presented with the 2013 Hilde Dixon Award for her outstanding contribution to languages education in WA.
The Award, the highest honour for language teachers in WA, was announced during the Annual General Meeting of the Modern Language Teachers' Association of WA on Saturday 23 November. Kate was presented her award by MLTAWA President Fulvia Valvasori, seen above with Lisa Djanegara and Claire Leong.
The MLTAWA Hilde Dixon Award recognises and celebrates excellence in the teaching of languages and a commitment to languages education in the classroom and through involvement in language professional associations in Western Australia.
Kate speaks English, German and Indonesian and has taught Indonesian at Ballajura Community College, Melville Senior High School and Scotch College. In 2014, Kate will become AISWA's Consultant for Languages and Asian Studies.
Throughout her career, Kate has been active in the MLTAWA and the Westralian Indonesian Language Teachers' Association (WILTA). Kate's valuable contribution has already been recognised with an Outstanding Professional Service Award this year and she is one of only nine teachers featured in the nationwide study published as Language Teachers' Narratives of Practice
(Harbon and Maloney, 2013).
