AISWA is delighted to welcome Kate Reitzenstein in the new role of Consultant for Asia and Languages.
Kate's role is to assist AISWA schools in implementing the Australian Curriculum with particular focus on the Languages learning area, the Cross Curriculum Priority of Asia and Australia’s Engagement with Asia and the General Capability of Intercultural Understandings.
Kate brings to the role extensive experience as a teacher of Indonesian at Scotch College and Ballajura and Melville Senior High Schools. She is a long-standing member of the Modern Language Teachers' Association of WA and the Westralian Indoensian Language Teachers' Assoication and is a board member of the Balai Bahasa Indonesia. In 2013, the Modern Language Teachers' Association of WA awarded Kate the Hilde Dixon Award for ourtstanding contribution to langauges education in WA and she was profiled in Language Teachers' Narratives of Practice, as an example of best practice in teaching languages in Australia.
Kate will organise and present professional development activities and provide advice to schools and teachers on policy and resources.
